Keisatsusho no Uchimaku

Veteran of almost a quarter century of police work, Minoru Sugiura offers a behind-the-scenes look at Japanese police, primarily through personal anecdotes. The book, while exposing some troubling aspects of police in Japan, is more of a memoir than an exposé. Even with the limitation of being a personal memoir, the book still manages to dredge quite a number of skeletons out of the closet. More dated, and not nearly as pertinent, humorous or relevant as Boku ga Deka o Yameta Wake, it is nonetheless an informative read on an aspect of Japanese society which is as closed to most Japanese as it is to foreigners. Informative, with an informal tone. A good read.
