Set entirely in the Ueno area of Tokyo, "Ueno Yanaka Satsujin Jiken" is another of those rare Uchida novels to stay in one locale. What can happen when plans are made to turn Ueno Station into a high rise and rip up a local lake to build a multi-level parking garage beneath it, all to the strenuous objections of local residents? Well, people can end up dead. The police try to sweep things under the rug, but Asami forces the truth out in the open.
