Written
in 1953, as was "Me no Kabe", "Ten To Sen" remains one of
Matsumoto's best-known novels. It is one of the few available in English translation
("Points and Lines"). These two established Matsumoto's eternal position
as Japan's master detective fiction author. Perhaps it was the early success
of these novels with highly improbable crimes which led him to continue the
pattern. A masterpiece unless you're already burned out.
