(3500) Kobayashi = A919 SD

      Discovered 1919 Sept.18 by K. Reinmuth at Heidelberg.
      Named in honor of Takao Kobayashi, an active computer of cometary orbits
and identifier of minor planets. He is also a vice-director of the Computing
Section of Oriental Astronomical Association and is currently collecting and
verifying almost all the observations of minor planets made by Japanese amateur
astronomers.
     Name proposed by S. Nakano who found the identifications involving this planet.

     Discovered 1931 Oct. 5 by K. Reinmuth at Heidelberg.
     Named for Takuo Kojima, who has made more than 1,000 accurate observations
of comets and discovered more than 10 numbered minor planets. He has also
written the Comet Observers Guide column in Gekkan-Tenmon since 1990.
     Name proposed by T. Kobayashi who found the identifications involving this
minor planet.

Named in honor of Tsuneo Niijima(1955- ), co-discoverer of periodic comet
Urata-Niijima (see minor planet (3722) for the co-discoverer) and discoverer of
several minor planets.

Hiroshi Shimoda (b. 1949) is a Japanese amateur astronomer and
specialist in agricultural management in Gunma prefecture. He is a
devoted observer of small bodies in the solar system. As an early member of
the astronomical society Ota-Uchuno-Kai he encouraged many amateur astronomers.

Otauchunokai, founded in 1970, is an amateur astronomers'
club in the Ota city area, Gunma prefecture. Club activities include
observations, studies and public education in astronomy.
The discoverers are members of this club.

Shigetoshi Inoue (b. 1961) is a Japanese amateur astronomer and a key member of Ota Astronomical Club. He is passionate about disseminating astronomy to the public. His commentary on constellations has been familiar to children at observing events.

井上重利さん(1961年生)は、群馬県前橋市（旧大胡町）在住の土木工学のエ
ン ジニアでアマチュア天文家です。
小学生のときの理科の授業から天文に興味を持ち、夜空に星座をたどること
を楽しみの一つとしていました。学生時代アルバイトして購入した天体望遠
鏡により天文への興味を深めていきました。社会人になってから、1982年に
天文同好会「太田宇宙の会」の現会長と同じ職場になったことをきっかけと
して、同会に入会し、仲間と星を眺める楽しさ、なにより子どもたちに星空
を解説することの楽しさに出会うことができました。同時に、かつて太田宇
宙の会の本拠地であった「太田市立中島記念図書館」に設置されていた15cm
屈折望遠鏡に強い衝撃を受けました。太田宇宙の会では、天体教室、市民観
望会の講師として活動されております。現在は太田市こども館での夜間観望
会や宇宙展（毎年2月に開催される会員の天体写真や観測記録等の展示会）
のスタッフ等として活躍しております。太田宇宙の会の役員として、会の
リーダーの一人としても活躍されています。
また、太田市にある「ぐんまこどもの国児童会館」で実施している「スター
フレンド」の講師を開設当初から行っています。彼のわかりやすく親しみ
やすい解説はどこの観望会でもこどもたちを魅了しております。
最近は、もっぱら自宅に設置した15cm屈折望遠鏡で、夜空を楽しむほか、
月や星雲・星団、彗星の撮影に挑戦しています。

 工藤高弘さん（1961－）は群馬県前橋市在住のソフトウエアエンジニアでアマ
 チュア天文家です。 主に星野を対象としての天体写真を精力的に撮影をしてお
 ります。また、群馬県はSLが毎週土日に行しておりSLの撮影も行っています。
 1992年に太田市近郊のアマチュア天文家で結成する「太田宇宙の会」に家族会員
 として参加しました。実はご夫人が正会員でした。定期的に飲み会を行うことを
 習慣化させた功績から「宴会部長」（banquet manager）」の称号をたてまつら
 れ、現在でもそのお酒の定例会は続いております。 Fsacebookにおいては。「オ
 ンライン酒盛り・宴会」グループを主催し宴会部長の活動枠をひろげておりま
 す。今回の(9981)という番号は、日本 人ならだれでも覚える掛算九九の最大値
 選びました。親しみやすい数字です

Oshima Osamu(1959-) is a leading amateur astronomer and science teacher
in Gunma prefecture and volunteer science instructor in great favor with children.
His interests in astronomy are wide, currently CCD imaging of planetary nebulae.

Discovered 1997 Jan. 8 by T. Kobayashi at Oizumi.
Nitta-machi was a town with a population of 29,000 in county Nitta-Gun county,

in the southeastern part of Gunma prefecture. In 2005, the town merged with Ota city, Ojima town and

Yabuzuka-Honmachi town. .

Yabuzuka, the abbreviated name for Yabuzuka-Honmachi town, in Nitta-Gun county,

in the southeastern part of Gunma prefecture, had a population of 19 \, 000. In 2005 the town became part of

new Ota city, when it merged with Ota city, Ojima town and Nitta town.

2005年に合併して太田市となった町の名の命名です。合併10周年を記念しての命名です。
新田町は、群馬県の南東部にあった新田郡の人口約2万9千の町でした。藪塚は、藪塚本町
の略称です。藪塚本町は、群馬県の南東部にあった新田郡の人口約1万9千の町でした。
2005年に太田市、尾島町と新田町と藪塚本町の１市３町は合併し、新しい太田市となりま
した。１市３町を含む一帯は、平安時代から「新田荘」と呼ばれておりました。利根川と
渡良瀬川と、金山八王子丘陵があり、歴史と文化遺産に恵まれております。東毛の中核都
市として発展し、農業も盛んで、観光地もあります。今回の命名で太田市を構成した尾島
町(3565）, 新田町(21326）, 藪塚本町(21327)そして新しい太田市(21328)がそろって小惑
星に命名されたことになります。
発見者である小林隆男が所属する太田宇宙の会は、太田市を本拠地にしており、地域の名
を残そうと今回の命名を提案しておりました。 （日野利夫：報）

In Mar.\ 2005 Ota city and three neighboring towns in the eastern part of
Gunma prefecture were combined to form a new Ota city. Astronomical outreach
is energetically carried out there by the Ota Uchuno Kai (Ota Astronomical
Club).

Discovered 1995 Nov. 24 by T. Niijima at Ojima.
Kiyotaka Kanai (1951-), a Japanese amateur astronomer,
is a key member of the group Ota Uchuno Kai. A devoted observer of small bodies, he
independently discovered C/1970 B1 and co-discovered (7752) Otauchunokai.
Recently, he has become well known as a variable star observer.

Discovered 1995 Dec. 21 by T. Kobayashi at Oizumi.
Akiyoshi Ishikawa (1955- ), a Japanese amateur astronomer,
is a key member of the group Ota Uchuno Kai. A devoted comet observer, he has
had more than 1100 visual magnitude estimates published in the International Comet
Quarterly since 1980.

Discovered 1996 Jan. 24 by T. Niijima at Ojima.
Kazuhiko Ichikawa (1956- ), a Japanese amateur astronomer, is one of the
founders of the Yamaneko Group of Comet Observers and a key member of Ota
Uchuno Kai. An organizer of the Cometary Summer School, an advanced workshop
for comet research, he has mentored many amateur comet researchers.

Toshio Hino (b. 1950) is a Japanese astronomer. As chairman of Ota
Uchuno Kai, he has played an active part in managing this astronomical club,
collaborating with regional astronomical communities and promoting
astronomical outreach activities.

Japanese amateur astronomer Hiromitsu Motegi(b. 1960) has a particular
interest in digital imaging. As an instructor at many meetings of observers,
he has shared his knowledge with others, particularly children. He also
collaborates with amateur astronomers through his web site.

石川敏広さん(1975年生)は、群馬県太田市在住のエレクトロニク
スのエンジニアでアマチュア天文家です。
小さい頃から天文に興味を持ち、学校の天文クラブなどで活動し
ていました。高校、大学時代にはアマチュア無線に没頭し、天文
から距離を置いていました。 社会人になってから、2000年にネッ
トの恩恵で、市内のアマチュア天文家の茂木弘光氏と出会い、こ
のことをきっかけとして、再び天文を趣味とするようになりまし
た。
その後、自宅屋上にスライディングルーフ式の天文台を設置。
20センチ反射望遠と9センチ屈折望遠鏡で、月、惑星、星雲・星団、
彗星等の観測や天体写真の撮影を精力的に行っています。
その一方、2001年に地元太田市の天文同好会「太田宇宙の会」に
入会。太田市こども館での夜間観望会や宇宙展（毎年2月に開催
される会員の天体写真や観測記録等の展示会）のスタッフ等とし
て活躍。現在は、役員として、会の運営も担当されています。
